Australian Meat Pie!?!?!

Nope - not a description of my boyfriend (sigh)...it's some sort of down-unda spin on a chicken pot pie, sans winged foul. The title is misleading; while I was intrigued by Australian meat - I went for lighter fare at Rush and had breakfast.

In fact, it was called a "Light Start" comprised of avocado and tomato atop a thick (yea buddy) toast, seasoned with cracked pepper and lime juice. It was simple, flavorful and hit the spot!! What was even more interesting was the latte I ordered - it came in a pint glass. WTF!?! I was perplexed as to how to drink it - is it a beer; is it coffee who knew?? Until you grab the damn thing to take your first guzzle and nearly drop it...which is a kin to spilling your favorite cocktail - I've heard capital punishment ensues if caught!! All worked out well and I had a peaceful day of blogging once a very wise sage brought me a coffee holder thingy for my glass o' java.
.

More importantly than the food - the atmosphere was pleasant and the service was excellent. I will definitely be back for some meat pie (I think I just drooled on myself a lil' bit).

For now - I give #RushEspresso a 4 glass rating (is that wrong on a Sunday afternoon) until I can taste more menu items...did I mention the Australian Meat Pie??

They don't call them DEVILled eggs for nothin'!!

Seriously - so delish until the digestive process begins....any one else feel the wrath of the devilled egg???  I digress - today I highlight #TheKingsKitchen!! My team went there yesterday for lunch and it was fabulous!!! First - even if it wasn't - the mission alone is heartwarming and makes me want to work there!!

Back to the food......1 word, 2 syllables:  YEEE - UM!!! 😄

We started with fried okra, pimento cheese and the most yeummy cracker-like thing to dip into the cheese....but wait! There's more!! We had (a-hem) devilled eggs...THEN a biscuit from heaven followed by blackened salmon (as my friend says, "saL mon"), green beans that tasted like my grandma's and cream corn that I had never seen prepared that way (it was a bit chunkier than I've had in the past - but it was awesome)!! Oh - and finally there was Mac-n-cheese. I'm stuffed just typing about it. See for yourself:

Without a doubt this place gets a 5 glass and a titch rating for it's deliciously fattening southern food and God driven mission to help make the world a better place for those who are fighting their inner demons - or battling homelessness. Cheers to you King's Kitchen!!

Bang this!

Too risqué you exclaim? You would agree after trying Bonefish Grill's bangbang shrimp!! Complimented with an espresso martini and a house salad to die for...this simply delicious meal wins a 5 and a titch wine glass rating on all accounts! )Maybe only a 3 as far as healthy is concerned - but after tasting that first bite of shrimp - you won't give a shit!)

Seriously - you've not lived until you've had it! I'm told it's a bit spicy - but for spice lovers it's grade school in terms of heat - aside from the party in your mouth!!!

Nothing Beats Grilled Meat!

MMMMMMMMMMMMM  - Now while this clearly is not restaurant quality...it was made with love on my grill on Easter.  This delicious Prime Rib was rubbed with Chicago Steak Seasoning mix and cooked on medium high on my Weber grill for 4 minutes a side.  Because I am biased of the 'chef' I endorse this scrumptious selection 5 glasses and a 'titch' for each of the following:

  1. Did it fill me up? Hells yea
  2. Was it YEE-UMMY? You betcha (and believe me, not everything I cook is..but this pretty much cooks itself)
  3. Would I have it again?  As diet permits (this is like 5billion Weight Watchers points)
  4. Was it expensive? Nope! $23 for two Prime Ribs (cooked 1, seasoned/froze 1 - it's the gift that keeps on giving...in a good way)
  5. Was it healthy?  Red meat is an important part of a healthy diet as long as it is not the entire diet....ok, no not really but the rating stands!
Stay tuned, now that I'm a bit more organized, I intend to blog a little more regularly with a little more humor/wine mixed in.  Next stop: Bonefish, Dilworth Neighborhood Grille and Miro Spanish Grille (why does everyone spell 'grill' like that?)

Food - A Necessary Evil (mua-ha-ha-haaaa)

After a random sample survey, using 3 standard deviations, (yea ok) - the reality is after hittin' the sauce (don't judge me!) I came up with this food blog idea.  After sharing the idea with friends and utter strangers, it was a resounding, "OMG that is the best ide-A!" (Although not everyone sounded like a texting valley girl.) SO...with that solid endorsement, I decided to give it a shot!  In essence, everyone eats and not everyone gives a shit about the 'hint of rosemary' or 'excited palates' (although kinky).  If you're single - you don't cook at home!  Cook a meal for 4, and have to eat it every day for 4 frikkin days - no WAY!!

When we eat out what most of us only care about:

     "Did it fill me up?"
     "Was it YEE-UMMY?"
     "Would I have it again?"
     "Was it expensive?"
     "Was it
     healthy? (optional)

So every week (or more often if I dine out a lot), I will post pictures and write about the food I eat.  The food (and drink on occassion) will be rated on a 5 wine glass scale...1 glass being the most disgusting thing on the planet and 5 glasses being the best EVA...  Join me on a food journey - come on in, the water's fine!
